What are you eating/doing today? (Monday)
This is what is driving me crazy. I'm like you Kelly, I want to be swimming, I want to be moving. I'm afraid that I'm losing all the muscles that I worked so hard to build.

Honestly, you do lose a little muscle, but it doesn't take long to build it back up to where you were. I was off for 9 weeks with no running (12 with no yoga and weights), and I eased back in, and i'm back full force now. It did drive me crazy, but it's only temporary! When can you start moving again?
Surgery March 23/2011. Completed three full marathons and two half marathons, two half Ironman distances. Completed my first Full Ironman distance (4 km swim, 180 km bike, 42.2 km (full marathon) run) in Muskoka August 30/2015. Next Ironman Lake Placid July 23/2017!
Thanks Kelly. I am not sure how long it will take to heal, I guess it all depends on how cooperative my body is. The physiotherapist told me that I will progress from the walker to two canes and then to one cane for a while. What I want to know is when can I swim, she just says not yet. It seems the older you get, the harder it is to build muscle and the easier it is to lose it.

Ohhh "not yet" would kill me. But you have to comply, which you are. I actually don't know what happened to you. Did you fall?

I did fall down a set of stairs st home. Lots of soft tissue damage but no breaks thankfully. I landed on concrete on my back.

You are amazing Kelly. I slept most of yesterday...I couldn't believe how tired I was from doing nothing other than 7 loads of laundry. I've been off track with my vitamins, so I am making it a priority. If I don't feel back to my usual self, I'll get some blood work done (been very anxious lately and experiencing alot of hand and foot/leg cramping).
Definitely make it a priority. Get your blood work done anyway. You might be down on your iron. If you can, add in a banana (I eat mine with almond butter, to give it a bit of protein), which has potassium that you may be lacking, and causing the cramping.
That's just something to try in the meantime, while you wait for blood work.
