Not sure if I will qualify?

I will be attending the info secssion next Tuesday, my only concern is I will be told I don't qualify for WLS. I know that I am considered a light weight as my BMI is between 35 and 40, not too sure on my weight as I haven't weighed myself in a few weeks, last time I weight myself was 2 weeks ago and  I was 214 and I am 5"2. I have high blood pressure, PCOS and a history of diebeties in my family.

There are several factors that are taken into consideration prior to going through with WLS. Your health team will I'm sure be looking into comorbidities that may effect your eligibility. I am by no means a professional but I can tell you from my experience with the WLS process things appear to be moving forward - I also have a BMI in that range (37) as well as PCOS. Best of luck on your journey!

The general rule is BMI of 40+ or BMI of 35 plus co-morbidities.

Thanks, I think I am just trying not to get my hopes up. My endocromligist is the one who suggested WLS to me and when I asked if I would qualify he had told me that he is was one of the Dr's on the bariatic team here in Windsor and yes I would qualify.  I think I am over thinking things right now. Guess I should hope for the best and wait and see what happens next week.

you won't know until you apply...even if you are denied (I was) you have the right to appeal the MOHLTC decision

I went through every appointment not believing that I would get this operation. I did not want to have my hopes up and find out that I did not qualify. Even when I was going into the operation room I did not believe it was going to happen and the first thing I said when I woke up is did they do it. Even though I was in pain.  For me it was easier to think it was not going to happen than to think it was and than be disappointed. I was a light weight and they do look at your health issues.  Just remember each time you go just think I made it through one more meeting and if it is suppose to happen it will

I had the EXACT same experiencr as Highlander!  I thought at every appointment l was going to be rejected and l too askec if they did the surgery when l woke up!

I also, as many have thought l would be the only person the surgery wouldnt work.

Good luck!

you have to try, if that is what you have decided to do, go through the process...if by chance you are not approved you can ALWAYS appeal the decision.
