3 days from surgery

My surgeon (TWH) said that nearby to him meant that if there were any complications that I was close enough to return to TWH. He said that two hours was close enough to drive back if there was complications. I was just thinking that maybe you might want to keep that option open when pre booking a room at a hotel for four days without paying a penalty for cancellation if he tells you that you can return home which I suspect he might.

Take care

I agree with all of the above, I'm about an hour away and was allowed to go home right from the hospital. I'd double check... to be honest, resting at home would be best (in my oh-so-humble opinion, anyway). I also wouldn't want to spend the extra money, lol. Good luck and see you on the bench!

I was told that on Friday when I double-checked.  I see you're from Barrie.  I'm just north of you in El male but they told me that even Barrie is too far.  I'm assuming you were at HRRH.  I have Dr. Starr performing my surgery on Wednesday.  Who did you have?  I find it odd that the same Centre has such differing rules.

Due to backlog, I was through HRRH but had my surgery at TWH. Jaxie and I both had surgery the same day and we drove home together (we're both up in this area). At neither center were we told that we had to stay in a hotel.

I am going through Thunder Bay and I was told I have to stay in Thunder Bay for a full week after surgery, 2 nights in hospital then 5 days at hotel (I don't know anybody who lives there).  I will have to see the surgeon one week post-op and I live 5 hours away.  Because I will have to stay in a hotel room the night before surgery, my husband will have to stay there 2 nights while I'm in the hospital, and 5 nights post-op before I see the surgeon, that's 8 nights we have to pay for a hotel room.

I thought my stay was long!
