I am another newbie who has been lurking for a few days, but I will jump into the pool now that things are getting serious.

I had my referral put in in July 2014 and received a letter saying my orientation at TWH was scheduled for mid November. After going through the screening process, I received a call saying I now have a 'meet the surgeon' appointment on Mar. 13. It will be with Dr. Aarts. If anyone has had her as a surgeon, I would be grateful to hear what you thought of her.

Throughout the screening I have said to myself that I don't have to commit to the surgery until the day of the operation. I have come to the conclusion that this is the best choice. There is lots of learning to be done, but from what I have seen of this forum, there is lots of information available.

Wish me luck!

Good luck Keith, and welcome! I don't know much about Dr. Aarts, but from I have read on the boards, she's top notch.

There is a TON of info on here, it completely helped me through the process as support in my life was lacking. Welcome again!

Had my consult with her at TEGH but her partner Dr. Jamie Cyriac did the surgery and I only found that out the morning of the actual day. He was very good had no complications at all. If you do well he will let u go home the next day. I stayed 2 days as I was high risk.

Yay Keith. You moved through in less than a year. Good for you :). I have my surgery in less than 2 weeks. What a long, hard process. We'd be crazy not to give it a go.........you're meeting the surgeon, you're on the last lap!!
