Struggling-? for the vets
Hey guys!
I'm still reading everyday..but don't have enough to post everyday.
Question for the vets...surgery was Jan 16th went great etc. This last week? I'm dying. The plumbing is frozen. :) I have called the centre, and was told to take Milk of Magnesia-which I am doing.
Just curious if anyone else had these issues? Did you find anything that helped? I'm drinking protein shakes, eating what I can but it's not that easy at this time. Other than that things have been good. NOT losing like I had hoped, but at this point? I'm more interested in getting the plumbing fixed.
Any ideas? thoughts? anything?
Thanks in advance!
You might also try a stool softener. I take soflax. Hope this helps.

I was in the same boat. Drink as much water as you can and add a stool softener to your vitamin regime. I ended up in the hospital due to severe constipation and it was not pleasant! After than I was put on colace stood softener twice a day and it has been smooth sailing ever since. A small price to pay to for my 120 lb weight loss. Once you get on a more regular bathroom routine things will fall into place and you will be back in track to losing.
good luck!
I take either 1 or 2 colace every day because it is a stool softener and is not addictive. Senekot is a laxative and can be addictive in that over time it will stops working for you no matter how much you take. Now every once in awhile I will pop a senekot to get things moving if I feel like it has been too long since my last BM ( which for me only happens about every three day).
my personal physician gave me this script as I didn't have another appointment with my nurse for another 5 months and didn't want to wait.
not sure where you are from but I am i Canada and colace is covered under my medical coverage so I don't pay for it, which makes it a bit better! I pop it just like my daily vitamins!!
good luck!
Get some senokot. Take like 4 of them to get you moving. I will be a year post op next week and I still have to take them every 2 to 3 days otherwise I don't go. I would suggest you do the same until things get moving on their own. I would get them and take them tonight. You don't want to end up in emerge.
I second the stool softener to help overall. I needed that for a good 8 months post-op. The milk of magnesia is great to take at the first sign of a problem, but if that doesn't work shortly then you need to move to the next step. I would recommend the senokot as well, as long as your centre is ok with it. Hopefully you get some relief tomorrow morning. Going forward, you may want to think about the stool softener and keeping your water intake up.
