Still waiting

my referral was sent in at the end of October.. Looking around on here looks like most people has had there orientation within couple months after the referral.. I am still waiting to hear from them.. I ask my doctor she keeps saying it takes little over a year to hear from them... My question is how can I find out if they have received my referral? She said the hospital will be Humber river.. Has anyone called to get their date for orientation or even just to inquire what's going on? 

I don't have the number, but contact the Bariatric Registry.  They can tell you if it's been received, and confirm the Hospital you'll be assigned to.

I also felt I was waiting a long time for an orientation session.  At the time, I tried calling and emailing the Bariatric Registry, and never got a response.  Even my doctor called, and never got a response.  I took the advice of some members on this forum and called Humber.  If you know you will be going to that hospital, it wouldn't hurt to call.  The Bariatric Clinic number is 416-747-3720.  I called that number and could only leave a message.  After several days, and not getting a call back, I then called the Booking Line 416-747-3879.  I actually spoke to someone, got a date for orientation, and they emailed me all the information that very day.

I would suggest calling the booking line.  It doesn't hurt to try, you have been waiting a long time.  If they do not have your referral, sometimes things get lost, you may need your doctor to resend  your application to the Bariatric Registry.

Thank you so much for the number I called them.. They are processing November referrals.. They received my referral on November 6.. Right now they are working on November 14th and 15th referrals.. I should be getting the information package in the next two weeks if not to call back.. 

That is great!  So you probably would have heard something in a couple of weeks anyway, but, at least you know for sure now.

Waiting, and not knowing anything is so hard.

My referral was sent in Aug, in November I asked family doctor to refax,referral then heard with orientation appt. Within a few weeks, if u at humber I don't think they are very organised

I am going through Humber, no they don't sound to be organized at all.. The lady sound a bit lost.. She couldnt find much information she saw my referral was received on November 6.. She looked through the pile she had couldn't find anymore information.. She said the other lady probably has it as she is working on November 14 and 15 referral packages.. But it's a relief to know that this is going to start soon.. 

Yes it seemed like l a long wait for first appt, mine was Jan 26 (orientation) and we were told we would get a package in the mail in 6-8 weeks for our next round of appointments.

My longest wait in the whole journey, was the referral to orientation. About 3.5 months.

I called them yesterday to find out what month they were processing for those who have had their orientation already and was told they were in October.
