Question about Sleep Apnea & WLS? Help!

Question about Sleep Studies and WLS? So I don't believe that I have sleep apnea but I scheduled one through my GP just in case the Nurse requests one at my appointment. I really don't want to delay the process.

Anyways, if you do the sleep study and you are found to have sleep apnea, what does this mean for your surgery? Will you be able to have surgery?

If you do have Sleep Apnea, you will probably be given a cpap machine.  This only means that you will need to take the CPAP machine with you to the hospital.  It shouldn't delay your surgery.  But you'll feel much better once treated.

Sleep apnea is generally exacerbated by our weight and having the condition will not disqualify you for surgery. Having sleep apnea can make it more difficult to lose weight so they want to ensure if you have it that you are treating the problem (usually with a CPAP). They will want you to bring your CPAP to the hospital at the time of surgery but you will also need to get a report from the sleep clinic with your results. I don't believe everyone considering the surgery needs the sleep study but it takes a few months and a couple of overnight studies so starting the process now is smart. Good luck in your journey!!

I have Severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea.  I was sent for a sleep test to give me that info.  My surgery is in two days.  It hasn't stopped me.  I need to bring CPAP machine to hospital with me for recovery, that's about it.
