My Fitness Pal vs. Lose It app
I've been using the Lose It app to track what I eat, nutrients etc and quite like it. The only downside I've found is that most of the saved foods are from the US so it doesn't really recognize Canadian brands. I get around this by using the scanner. I have read a lot of reviews and it sounds so similar to Lose It. I don't want to make the switch to MFP if it's no better. Has anyone got any comments in that regard...or any other feedback?
Use whatever you're comfortable with - the key is to actually USE it. ;)
I was a fitday.com user for the longest time until I gave myfitnesspal a try and it's so much more user-friendly and more complete with the information it provides. Another bonus to MFP is that it synchs easily with activity trackers (in my case the Misfit Shine, though most seem to use a Fitbit - I like the Misfit so much better) over my iPhone. Personal preference is all.

Hi!
I also didn't know which app to use... MyFitnessPal seemed overwhelming to me... I received feedback from a few OH girls and stuck with MFP... In the past I had never been able to keep a food log, regardless of the program... I am only about 18 days or so post op and now I don't know how i would stay on track without MFP... after viewing a few videos, i saw how quick and easy it is to use... I feel good after I log a meal or if I l plan what I eat in advance... Perhaps watching a few videos of different apps may help you choose the best one for you. MFP has lots of Canadian brands and a lot of PC, No Name, Great Value, and some items will be listed twice...one of them saying (Canada) next to it.
Good luck finding what works for you! You can have a look at my diary on MFP... i am user millie0101 (i only have food logs ... when i'm recovered I can't wait to log exercise!)
I have been using MFP for a while now and I find it very user friendly. However I don't use the APP I use it on a computer. I have not yet found a single food that is not in their list. It does usually indicate Canada if it is something specific to Canada and also when you look at the nutritional value it will tell you how many other people say that the information is accurate. I do like it. I have only used the Weigh****chers on line stuff which is also okay but the MFP is free so I like that even better.
LOVE MFP. I used it before surgery. The app is easy too. A lot of people have plugged in Canadian versions of food too. I like that you can see how many users have confirmed that the NUT values are correct. It will tell you that you're not getting enough calories after you submit your food at the end of the day. Just ignore :-)
