Frustrating test result

Hi all

So just finished my second round of appts at Guelph where the RN, SW, & dietician all cleared me....awesome!  But just found out my H Pylori test result (from my summer blood work!!!!) came back as "undetermined." Soooooo I can't move forward in the process until I receive a negative H Pylori result.  Very disappointing.....sigh. Everything was going so smoothly :(

So my nuclear medicine breath test is on Feb 10 and hoping I'm negative of course.

Question is:  if anyone else experienced a positive result, about how much time did it add to your process to get it cleared up to get the negative result?  After the anti-biotic treatment and another breath test, how long did that whole process take?

Im trying to remain positive for a negative test result but I want to be prepared mentally if this is going to add 2 or 3 months to my surgery process.

Thanks all.

Sorry that you got a bad test result.  I am through Guelph as well and I can tell you that from my referral in Feb. 2013 to my surgery in July of 2014, the Guelph process is longer than the other centres, but this gives you time to adjust to how your new way of living will be.  I understand being anxious, but the time waiting is invaluable to get your head in the right place. I am 6 months out and within days of being 100 pounds down, which I am thrilled with.  I know that the waiting time was so important for my current success.  Please don't stress about this, it will happen before you know it.  Best wishes.  C.C.

Thanks CC. I'm enjoying the process and really happy with the changes I've made so far.  It will all be worth it!

I went through Guelph as well and tested positive for H. Pylori.  I don't think it really slowed me down in the process though.  And I don't think it will impact you very much as you have already gone through the majority of testing.  You also have the post op food class to go to and the meeting with the surgeon.  I also just want to let you know that Guelph is nearing their allotted number of surgeries for the year, so you may have to wait until they start up again in April.  But please don't panic.  I started the process in Feb of 2013 with my orientation in April 2013.  My post op food class was Jan. 2014 and I met the surgeon in Feb.  My surgery didn't happen until May 2014, as I missed the cut off date by 2 spots and had to wait for their new fiscal year.  I took that time to get myself and my house ready for surgery, and it came and went in no time.  By this time next year you will be at or close to your goal, so try not to stress too much!  Good Luck.

It's not a big deal. I didn't go for the breath test. They just gave me the antibiotics. I've had it before and will always test positive for it. If they go the medication route, take them and you're good to go.
