New Guy I Guess....

Welcome to the forum, I am newly post-op so about 7 weeks, sounds like you had a great turn around on your orientation, I waited several months between being referred and getting my orientation.  it is an interesting journey, this forum can be very helpful, the vets  have a lot of insight and generally share their knowledge very freely, I found this to be very helpful, and it is nice to be involved in a community that understands what you are going through.

Hi there, I'm not new either, about 2.5 years out.  But wanted to welcome you to the forum.  If you haven't noticed, there is a full range of people in this forum.  People considering surgery to those who are 9 + years post op.  You'll find great support here!

Hi. Congrats on looking into this surgery! Wow, how did you get to orientation so quicly? It took from October to the end of February for me. Then another year til surgery. Mine is Feb. 3, such a long wait it was hard to believe it would ever happen, but now I'm just days away. The upside of the long wait is that I've had loads of time to research. As someone who had never used YouTube before, it has been a wealth of knowledge. being able to see dozens of vlogs documenting from before surgery until years after has helped me to understand the journey better. Plus I have researched the excess skin issue thoroughly. I cringe to think of going into this without that reality check. I just joined last night but this seems like a very supportive group. Good luck with this process whether you opt for surgery or not.

Thanks everyone. Nice to see some other people in my area around here. I am just as surprised as everyone else regarding my wait time for orientation. I was told that it could be up to a year by my family. A friend of mine who is in the program said hers took about 3 months. 

I am very new as well.....just joined tonight.  :)  I am in SWO and will be going to Guelph.  My referral was just sent in last Thursday.  I have read everything from quick to very slow processing on this forum and even that the yearly quota is likely maxed for Guelph but that it starts new in April.  Head is spinning right now.  LOL  If it is meant to be it will happen.   Look forward to hanging out here for the next while.  

Hi Kris....how was your orientation in Windsor today? 

I go for mine in Guelph on Feb 26th....was at doc on Jan 29th.

Sorry for the delay. Orientation was informative and I am glad I went. Yesterday I had my first consult at the clinic with the RN. Made my appointment with my Family Doctor for all my tests and stuff. Extremely happy that this is moving forward again!
