I don't like vanilla either.... I just bought some extracts and will try that. I heard that some cocoa powder with Splenda makes it good, so let's see.

Sure, if you don't mind asking! I am working full time trying to leave everything organized for when I am away and I also have a 14-month baby to take care of... and also trying to get everything ready for the surgery. I seriously need a clone lol

Pre-op was super easy. I first saw a nurse and she asked a bunch of questions. Then had some blood work done (the same nurse did it in the same room you are). She also did a nose swab and gave me another stick to do the swab myself in my bum  And then the anesthesiologist came to the room and also explained how it will be and you ask questions, if any. That was all. I was out of there in 2 hours. I did not have to do any other tests because it seems my family doctor and surgeon did not think it was necessary.

I love the idea that we will be walking around together!!! I like Dreamy's naming of Triplets

I hope my Pre op goes as quickly as yours, I am also trying to wrap things up at work before I go so I am not worried and stressed the whole time I am recovering! I guess we don't know our surgery times until Feb 2nd!  I wish they let us know ahead a time.

Hello my surgery buddies!

I have really surprised myself while on Opti.  I am not really hungry except for fleeting moments of seeing my fiancée eating at night.  I like watching others eat though, and I like smelling food but no overt hunger from me and no desire to cheat.  I am noticing that I am peeing more (like a race horse actually) and I am having three cups of diluted warm broth a day (may be too much broth on my part).  Last night I drank a diet pepsi and it actually tasted good (I don't normally like pop). Tonight I think I am going to have a crystal light raspberry after my last shake.

I am noticing that my breath is bad no matter how much I brush and use mouthwash, and I feel more tired than normal.  I have also had the Opti-trots and I have thrown up a couple of times but all in all not as bad as I thought it was going to be.  I have decided I like chocolate better than vanilla and the key is, lots of ice with my shake.  I have also been putting in coffee (both brewed and crystals) in with both flavours and it is yummy.  I also put in a crystal light in the vanilla shake which wasn't bad.

I hear ya on the breath thing!  I have been chewing a lot of sugarless gum.  That happens when you start burning keytones, bad breath but it also means you are burning fat!  I made decaf coffee popsicles last night.  I watered the coffee down a bit and added some vanilla extract and put them in popsicle molds I got at dollarama.  They were pretty good, seemed like a bit of a treat after all those shakes and you can kind of chew on the ice.  Im going to try sugar free jello popsicles next.  I always add coffee crystals to my shakes too, Im liking almond extract in my chocolate shake.  Gonna try the crystal light today.

Dr Aarts is fantastic!! She assisted Dr Cyriac with my surgery 4.5yrs ago :-)

You guys can request a private room BUT you will likely get a semi-private room, hospitals generally keep the private rooms for isolation patients.

Good luck to all you gals!! :-D

1) yes, generally 2 nights. I was told I was going home first thing in the morning and left by 10,  once they get all your discharge stuff in order

2) they don't generally allow extra people to spend the night, only rhe patient. This is for safety reasons

3) My hubby waited with me right until dr Cyriac took me to the OR. Dr Cyriac has done 3 different surgeries (RNY, gall bladder & an obstruction)

Good luck on your surgery day!! You are in FINE hands!! :-D
