Gained 2lbs on Optifast
I am on day 14 of opti fast and thought I was going great. I was loosing about 1lb a day on average. I'm eating 3 optifast shakes, 2 cups of chicken broth, 1 - 2 jello's and sometimes a couple of pickles and 48 - 60oz of water. At my 12th day I weight myself and I gained 2 lbs. I was so frustrated that I called the dietician and she told me that my body probably went into starvation mode and I have to try to get my 4 shakes in. So I have been trying to drink all 4 but manage to get 3 1/2 in so, today like I said it day 14 and still no movement on the scale. I am off to a really bad start with loosing weight.
Has anyone experienced this before and what did you do to start loosing again.

Stay positive, my weight loss on opti was very slow, but my 1st month post op I lost a pretty good amount. I really wouldn't worry about it, your body is probably just freaking out. Just stick to the plan, it will all work out!
Thanks Jennifer, I am trying my best. It's just frustrating when your not eating very much and you gain.
but I've got my eye on the prize

Why are you eating pickles? I went through Humber as well and pickles wasn't on the menu. We could have 2 cups a day of cucumber green pepper or celery. Pickles have alot of salt in them and could be causing you to retain water. Also is your chicken broth sodium free? If not that could be causing you to retain as well. You should be getting your shakes in before any of that other stuff. Sorry.
OMG I read about the pickles on OH. I haven't checked the sodium in the broth I have been focusing on fat free broth. Thanks you I will definitely stop all that and focus on having my four opti's. Thanks again.

I too was also going to suggest that the pickles contain a lot of sodium and figure it could be water retention. And pickles are not part of the plan... yes, cucumbers and vinegar is but pickles not so much
I know I'm still pre-op, but it seems that a lot of people forget the purpose of OptiFast.
It's not for weight loss... it's to shrink your liver and melt the fat around it.
I'm sorry, it's just kind of frustrating to see the same complaints about Opti over and over again, when people are missing the point completely. Just my thoughts on it though.
