EI -termination Question

I was on medical EI about 5 years ago for 2 1/2 months.  After that, I had to leave my job due to medical reasons.  I was able to collect medical EI for 2 1/2 months, then went on to EI for the maximum allowable time.  It's certainly something worth enquiring about.

I would  apply for medical leave  first and collect the weeks you are in titled to and then collect you regular benefits after you use your sick benefits up. I wouldn't waste your regular benefits on your sick weeks and a sick leave can be reopened for up to 1 year if for any reason you have any other medical issues in the next year. You will not have to wait the 2 week waiting period again the medical leave just reopens.  I had my benefits with in a week after my gastric bypass on October 7 2014 because I had a surgery in April of 2014 and waited the 2 week waiting period in April. Best wishes with your journey.

Thank you everybody for your kind words and assistance. I will definitely contact Service Canada when I find out more information regarding my job, hopefully I will not have to worry about any of this and they let my contract continue after surgery.

Thanks  again,

Amanda
