While in the hospital....
I almost got sent home the day of surgery as they had no beds available, I was one of the last surgeries of the day. The only bed to come available was a private room. It was *awesome*, I have no insurance. To answer your question, no coverage means you get a room with 4 beds generally. Semi private is 2 beds, and private is 1 bed with your own bathroom.
Referral - Feb 25th, 2014. Info Session - April 7th
Surgeon#1 - May 15th Dr. Glazer - July 23rd, Dietitian/Social Worker/RN - Aug 1st, Surgeon #2 - Sept 10th, Surgery - Dec 16th, 2014!
At TWH, I ended up in a semi-private and my room-mate was not a WLS patient. I did not have to pay extra and I have no coverage. I believe that you just get what's available at the time and I don't think they make an effort to match you up with another WLS patient. It would have been nice to have another WLS buddy in the room
