I WAS ON OPTI FOR ALMOST A YEAR AND IT WAS GREAT WEIGHT LOSS OPTION BEFORE SURGERY AND THE VANILLA  WAS VERY TASTY WHEN SERVED ICE COLD FROM THE FREEZER WITH CRYSTAL LIGHT AND THE CHOCOLATE WAS GOOD FROZEN TOO. ALL THE PEOPLE THAT COMPLAIN REALLY HAVE NOTHING ON ME AS I CAN POINT OUT I MANAGED AT LEAST 10X LONGER THAN ANYONE.

I'd call Dr.Starr's office and ask I think it's a good question ??? I only have to do 2 weeks but what if I'm like the rare few that can't tolerate it or are allergic to it. I don't want to be stuck with 220.00 of opti-fast and then have to pay for another brand if I can't tolerate Opti.

I am not sure if you can purchase 1 case at a time.  When I went to my surgeon appt he asked me if I purchases for week ( 2 boxes) or for all three weeks (6 boxes).  I asked for all chocolate and they said they have to give equal amounts of each.

I live in Whitby so I opted to buy all six cases at once, I didn't want to drive out every week and pay for parking each time.

Ontario is the only province that pushes Opti shakes but they are not superior to any other in any way. I'm not saying that you shouldn't follow the guidelines set out for you, but a purely "low carb, high protein" diet is more than sufficient. There is no magical ingredient in Opti vs any other high quality shake out there and your body only knows that it is going into ketosis. I'm not suggesting you should go on, say Slim Fast, which is super high in carbs.. but I managed to lose 26 lbs on Premier Protein and my liver was shrunk enough to have my surgery go off without a hitch.

I'm pretty sure the doctors make a lot of money only selling the OPTI. I think you could just buy one case at a time. They might push you to buy them all at once but say you only brought $ for one and will be back in to get the rest at a later date. Or buy one case of each flavour. Same story

I just bought my opti yesterday since I'm on vacation and I don't want to miss work just to get it. They told me you have to take both flavours. I didn't even think that there was an alternative!

Good morning I just started Optifast this morning, I am wondering why some have to do it for 2 weeks and others like myself have to do it 3 weeks? Different surgery?

Thanks

Rob

Depends on the person's weight. I think for every 100 pounds you weigh, you do a week basically.

Hi Rob, I have to do 3 weeks also.  I know I have a fatty liver....maybe they are aware of that so I need the extra week or maybe its just my weight.
