Had the appt. with her  but Dr. Jamie Cyriac  her partner did the surgery. He said it would be around 3 hrs. but it only took 2 hrs.. Fast and easy not a lot of pain either. The nurse told me he's known to send patients home the next day.  DR. Aarts is very nice and you should feel comfortable with her.

Dr. Cyriac and Dr Aarts work together, she was present during my surgery and was awesome.  It was a really good experience, all were friendly and very supportive.  I haven't had any complications related to the surgery and healed well and quickly.  The only thing I was confused about was that although Dr. Cyriac was my surgeon, Dr Aarts was the surgeon assigned when I called to check in the day of the surgery.  I wasn't aware of that and panicked when they told me that Dr. Cyriac didn't have surgery that day! It worked out but still....should work that out with you in advance.

Thanks for all your replies everyone.  Now if I have Dr. Aarts does that mean my surgery will be out of TEGH?

Also, they told me to bring my credit card at the appointment - does anyone know approximately how long it will be from Surgeon's appointment to surgery date?

I am sooo excited!!!

Yes it will be at TEGH. You will get your Optifast at your appointment. Surgery dates vary...mine was super-fast (5 days) because they had a spot open before their quarter-end in March, and I fit the criteria, so I took it! :-) (I haven't heard of anyone else getting their surgery that fast, it was just my lucky day back then). No idea what timelines are like now. Maybe two months?

I have an appointment with Dr. Aarts in mid January too!  Looks like we are on the same timeline.  I asked the women who called with my appointment date if the surgery would be at Toronto East General then and she said yes, but the appointment is at TWH.
