Recovery Time

I am curious as to what your recovery time was like.  I am meaning from date of surgery to when return to driving and a desk job work.  Looking for both recoveries for both types of surgery?  Just curious. 

I drove the day after surgery, but was off work for 6 weeks. My jobs is physically demanding. I'm running around all day on my feet.

Here in Ottawa, unless you have a physically demanding job, the standard amount of time they write a note for is four weeks. One full month.

If you have a physical job, then obviously it will be longer than that.

And here, it doesn't matter what type of surgery you have, but rather the healing progress you are making. Thus they indicate four weeks off work for the recovery.

Edited to add: I was driving about 1 week post-op with no trouble.

When I had my surgery I did not have extended heath care benefits through my job which I had just started a month before having my RNY.  Therefore I was off from work 10 working days and then went back 1/2 days for the following week. 

Remember it's not just your work job, it's the housework, the vacuuming, the pulling clothes out of a front loading washing machine all those types of things you have to be super careful about.
