What are you eating/doing today (Friday)
Unfortunately your dinner math doesn't add up. Milk is liquid and goes right through the pouch and doesn't equate to solid food (i.e. vegetables). I'm surprised you weren't advised to eat protein with the meal?
Edited to add: Worth mentioning, but I'm sure you already know, the milk (or any liquid) shouldn't be ingested with food - waiting 30 minutes after eating before drinking anything is advised.

Hi Karen,
I knew that the 1/2 cup of milk probably wouldn't translate into the food. The stir fry did have ground chicken in it. Since I started exercising I find I'm hungrier then I was before. That is what happened at dinner last night. However, I don't know what I did wrong but had a horrible night. Dry heaving and diarrhea most of the early morning hours. Stomach is really sore today, and I'm scared to eat or drink anything. Just try to have a tea now. Any thoughts or advise?
Tish, I say this with kindness and concern, but damn girl - you're eating too much too soon and not on plan with the foods you're choosing to eat. You're a month out if I recall correctly. Can I ask what your food plan from your centre is advising you to eat each day?
I'm sorry you had a rough go with the dry heaving and diarrhea - that sucks. I hope today is a better day for you.

this is what my plan says:
B- 1 egg or1/4 cup of low fat cottage cheese, 1/2 cup low fat milk, or 1/4 cup cooked oatmeal, 1/2 cup yogurt
L- 2 ounces of moist lean protein, 1/4 cup veg, 1/4 cup low fat milk or yogurt.
D- 2-3 ounces of moist protein, 1/4 cup veg, 1/4 cup startch or grain, 1/2 cup low fat milk.
I didn't include the snacks because I usually don't eat them. So for breakfast I'm having one egg with 1/4 cup( but I'll turn it into ounces) cheese. Usually one triangle of laughing cow soft cheese.
Great - this looks reasonable. When I was at your stage I found it very hard to eat everything they listed (I was way too full, which would lead to great discomfort and/or vomiting/diarrhea/pain/etc.) so I started splitting my total daily requirements up into 6 meals i.e. breakfast lunch and dinner and 3 snacks. This ensured I was eating an appropriately small amount but still getting everything in. Are you also drinking protein shakes? They are an excellent way to meet your protein requirements for the day - we need a high protein menu.
So, in following your plan, here is what I would eat today:
B - 1/2 cup protein shake made with 1% milk, 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
S - 1 egg (prepared however you are able to tolerate in your gut)
L - 2 oz tuna prepared with a little mayo for moistness (or you could use plain greek yogurt instead to make the tuna moist), a bite of soft mushy veg if I had room AFTER eating the tuna
S - 1/2 cup protein shake made with 1% milk
D - 2 oz moist protein, a couple of bites of soft/mushy veg, skip the starch/grain - not necessary
S - 1/2 cup protein shake made with 1% milk, if "hungry" later 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
Spreading it out keeps you satiated, keeps your metabolism up, feeds your body throughout the day and prevents overeating (which can lead to discomfort/vomiting/diarrhea, etc.)

I wish I had a problem eating everything, I could probably eat more. This worries me that maybe I stetched the pouch way out of proportion. I will give your suggestions a go today and see if that works better. How much time do you put between each meal? I feel like I'm always watching the clock. Where you exercising along with this meal plan? Working on 1/2 cup protein shake now.
Yeah, it really is a lot of clock-watching at first and a challenge to get everything in over the day, especially keeping in mind at we have to drink 64 oz of water yet not until 30 minutes after eating, etc etc etc - so many "rules"! Time between meals for me is usually about 2.5-3 hours.
At one month out my exercise consisted of walking - not sure what kind of exercise you're doing, but be careful and let your body heal.

Thanks for all your help. I was hoping that having this surgery I wouldn't be thinking about food all day long anymore, but I find that is not the case and it scares me. I think that is why I haven't been successful in the past because the constant obsessive thinking drives me crazy and eventually I just can't do it anymore. I have my one month check up on Wednesday and I will need to have a discussion with them on how not to drive myself crazy. I think going back to work will help and getting busier will take my mind off things. Again, thanks for your guidance, I feel better about facing today with confidence. Have a great day.
Obsessing over food is something many of us have experienced. Getting back to work and having some distractions will help but if you're finding it overwhelming I highly recommend getting some help with this via a counselor or therapist. The mental part of this journey is the toughest and getting things sorted out in your head now is important.
I hope you have a great day today!
