Getting extremely frustrated

Speaking from my own experience throughout this journey, TWH bariatric team has been awesome. Every time I have called, I have been met with kindness, and have always received a return call should I have left a message. They really do offer a great team' dynamic. Seeing as you only had completed orientation at HRRH, that shouldn't take much time to make up at all. Good luck.

H,i I had my Orientation Sept 4th at HRRH. I called the Bariatric unit and was told that they are just now booking appointments for the groups that went in July for orientation. She told me it would be Jan/Feb before I got any appointments. So I guess there is no reason to worry the process just takes time. This is a life changing event and I know when the time is right it will move forward as it should. Lots of times there are reasons for hold ups that we don't have control over. Example being for me I just received a call Friday night that I am booked Dec 8th to have both my knees replaced. So there was a reason I didn't get the RNY before now. It will happen when the time is right. Take care.

Hi Christy - Sorry, I meant to edit my comment and inadvertently deleted it instead.

They have been telling me that they have been going through the July stack since mid-September. The part that is the most frustrating is that the woman on the phone literally huffs into the phone if I ask her to check to see if my chart is in: like it's an inconvenience to her to be asked to do her job.  I know the process takes time, and I'm prepared for that.  I just hate being in limbo.  I like to know there is a next step clearly in sight.. not just waiting around for the next step to happen.  I just needed to vent my frustration.

I think the point is moot now, though, as I have decided to go to TWH.  I think it'll be better because it's much closer and much more convenient for someone who doesn't drive coming into the GTA... and I work downtown, so I won't be missing a full day of work to go to appointments because of traffic on the DVP.

Hi, did you transfer to TWH from HRRH? I was wondering about doing that as well since I have to have the knee surgery and will be off anyway. My family DR is so supportive and thinks they may accommodate me. I don't know.

I put my name in for the transfer on Friday and I was told that the lady who does the transfers will call me Tuesday.  So I will get all the details tomorrow, hopefully.

For transfers, you call this number: 416-747-3720.

Hi again- I arranged for the transfer on Friday over the phone - the number to call is 416-747-3720 and the person who handles the transfers is Cindy.  I called her this afternoon and she advised that she sent my transfer today to Toronto Western.  It will be up to them whether the accept the transfer and if so, it will go back to the bariatric registry (I'm not sure why this is).  She said that my first point of contact will be from TWH and that it takes about two weeks for the entire process.

I will keep you posted.

Hi Christy

I was sitting in front of you at the Orientation -you are the nurse right? How was your knee surgery?

I have started Opti and have my surgery on January 29th, 2015 - got a cancellation

So, I just got a call from HRRH offering me a date for my first appointment with the surgeon...... the DAY AFTER I put in a transfer.... I'm slightly annoyed, but still happy with my decision to try to transfer to Toronto Western.
