Hi all!

Just curious when PATTS happens? Do I get that appointment date along with my surgery date?> Or do they do it during my surgeon appointment?

Meeting with the surgeon this friday! Just want to know what to expect. I am at TWH, if that makes a difference.

My surgery is on the 21 st and my patts appointment is today.

PATTS is usually 2wks before your surgery

I'm in Ottawa so my experience may not be the same as that at TWH. However, I can tell you that at the time I met my surgeon, we had a general timeframe for surgery. I received a call the week after I met my surgeon with my surgery date. It was a couple of months away... and I didn't have a PATTS appointment booked.

They called me about 5 weeks before surgery to give me a PATTS date... and the PATTS appointment was exactly one week prior to my surgery date.

Your experiences may vary, but this is the process I had. Good luck at your appointment with the surgeon! Things are moving along!

Thanks for the info...I guess i just assumed since my 'meet the surgeon' appointment, involved meeting with the nurse as well, that patts may be started then... Wasn't exactly sure. Thanks all!

PATTS = Pre Admission Testing and Teaching, an appointment approximately a week prior to your surgery where you meet with nurse, anesthetist, blood work, weighed, etc.

Thanks Karen, I had blood work done yesterday in the PATTS. I wasn't sure if that was what is was.

No, I had my first surgeon appointment yesterday. They sent me to get blood work. I wasn't expecting to get the blood work done yesterday, it was no problem though as I was already at the hospital.
