I hear they don't allow you to bring your own pillow because of hygiene issues

I packed a bag with all kinds of great stuff and the only 2 items I used were my own pillow, and lip balm. Lots of lip balm. Your lips will get chapped. I did not use my PJs, slippers, personal products, books, magazines or anything else I brought. I did at one point flip through the magazine but it may as well have been a picture book, I was pretty doped up and not in the mood to read.

I was told to bring my vits, just in case and also so that they could check them. But they never did.  Don't worry about clothes (except maybe clean undies), just wear something comfy on the way in, and you can put it on on the way out (who will notice).  The only thing not mentioned is protection. For some people, TOM visits in the hospital even if it's not scheduled.  Hospital supplies for TOM are not the best.

Edited to add:  Even if you don't want to take a pillow for in hospital, have one for the drive home.  I have yet to drive on smoothe pavement after surgery.

It was nice having pyjama bottoms for under your gown when you got up to walk.

Hello what day is your surgery? Mine is the 25th with Dr. Reed. I have been making a list as I am about an hour away from Guelph. I live in Stratford. My list consists of: housecoat, slippers, pj's, underwear, socks, chapstick, cards, magazines, book, notepad and pen, crosswords, pillow, fan, c-pap machine, blackberry, tioletries, medicine and inhalers, sleep mask, etc.... Lol. Hope this helps
