Surgery This Friday
Not sure what hospital you're going to. In guelph, I showed up, signed in, got changed, hung out with my dad for a bit and then got wheeled to the hall in front of the operating room. A nurse asked me a bunch of questions, then the surgeon, then we went into the room, all the staff introduced themselves and we chit chated about dogs until the Anesthesiologist gave me a needle in my hand, then gave me the good stuff and I was out.
I woke up in recovery with 2 very nice nurses trying to clean my face because I got some blue dye on me. I guess they use it to test for leaks after surgery. They were lovely ladies, gave me a warm blanket and a nice pep talk about how great I was doing. I got wheeled to my room and my shoulders and back were sore from the gas and I just felt sort of tired. Not sick though. My surgery was at 8am and I was in my room by noon. My parents came to visit in the afternoon and I was in good spirits. by 7pm I was able to get up and use the bathroom myself, take a walk around the floor, brush my teeth and all that kind of stuff.
Good luck! Let the nurses know if you are hot/cold/feeling sick/feeling pain, they are there to help you!

Wishing you lots of luck!
I wrote a bit about my surgery day and time at Ottawa's hospital. You can read it here: My Surgery Day.
Being nervous is normal. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other and follow the directions they give you. You'll do GREAT!
