Skin consult tomorrow
I've seen so many posts about this and what is and isn't covered by ohip. Although id love to have a panni, I'm pretty sure I won't be covered for it because it doesn't hang low enough. My main concern is my breasts and arms. I have a long standing history of getting rashes every time I sweat from rubbing skin on both arms and breasts. I do not exercise because of it. My skin is too sensitive. Do you think I could be covered for both for this reason? Breasts I'm thinking almost for sure. But what about the arms?
Initial Referral: Feb. 17/12 - Orientation (St. Joe's): Oct 1/12 - Orientation (HRRH): Nov 26/12 - Meet Surgeon (Dr. Hagan): Nov 28/12 - Dietitian (Michelle): Nov 28/12 - SW (Jackie): Nov 28/12 - NP: Dec 20/12 - Bloodwork: Dec 20/12 - Medical Internist (Dr. Glazer): Jan 10/13 - Surgeon (Dr. Hagan): Jan 17/13 - Optifast: Jan 28/13 - Surgery: Feb11/13!!!
Let me know if you do get covered for arms / breasts...but I don't think you will. If you need a breast reduction you might qualify, but they won't just cover excess skin removal -- has to be removal of breast tissue
On the panni side, you never know. I wasn't sure I would qualify, but did. But my plastics guy said there was no coverage for the arms, legs, or breasts. Sigh!
Good luck!

As much as I pray my arms would get covered by OHIP they won't be. OHIP may cover your panni, who knows, its worth a try! Go for a consult, why not? One consult I had told me OHIP has approved patients with only a 4 cm apron, mine GULP is 13 cm. I was still worried it would be declined, but sent it in none the less.
Sadly as desperately as I want my batwings done, they will be done on my own, one day. For now, it's an upgraded panni to a tummy tuck for me.
