I just had my surgery yesterday. Would it be ok if I just showed up. As I am not sure how I am going to feel. I would really love to meet some people that understand my life now probably more than me.

I can answer for Karen only because I know she would say come on out if you are up to it. I know she be glad to have you. Karen if you read this don't be upset that I answer for you. she can have my spot. i wish I could make it out but I am doing a 15k race that day. I am in the middle of training for my marathon. I am hoping to knock 15 minutes off of last year time. It will also depend on weather and how my stomach acts. Get into long runs and I have bathroom issues.  Hope I can make it next time.

I'm sorry that you deal with that all the time. We need carbs to run.....and that leaves us running to the toilet. I am sticking with my banana and peanut butter (I deviated from that last weekend). Have a great race Barb!!

I never heard how your triathlon went!

Surgery March 23/2011. Completed three full marathons and two half marathons, two half Ironman distances. Completed my first Full Ironman distance (4 km swim, 180 km bike, 42.2 km (full marathon) run) in Muskoka August 30/2015. Next Ironman Lake Placid July 23/2017!

I left you a message on facebook about the triathlon. It was amazing. I took time off the bike ride which was pretty good since I was riding a bike i never been on. The swim was faster and my run was one minute slower but I am fine. In the long run I was faster than last year. The wet suite came off with no problem. I just sat by fat butt on the ground and pulled it off. My husband laughs when I say fat butt. I will do it again next year. doing master swim now so hope that will help me to get more speed in the water.

Hopefully I will be OK for this 15k run on Saturday because I know the place and there is not a whole lot of bathrooms around.  Tell me about the peanut butter how do you eat it and on what. Maybe I should try it.  Thank god I did tempo run inside today or I would have been in trouble. I was able to do my 18 minute tempo with no problem but the warm up to it and afterwards bathroom was needed.

Oh wow! I can't find that message at all! Facebook Pages app really confuses me. I'm sorry that I didn't get it! I thought of you lots!

Note: the following is very much against WLS eating, for anyone taking a peek at this post LOL

I eat peanut butter, smeared on a banana 1/2 an hour before a run that will be over an hour. Anything under an hour I just have water before I go. My sugars remain stable, and it feels fine now to run on an empty stomach (took awhile to get to this point).

Tomorrow I have a 32k run, so I will also do 1/2 a white bagel with peanut butter and 1/2 a banana plain. The less fibre the better (hence the white bread). The only gels I can do are GU, and I worked up my tolerance to that one. 1/2 at a time, for about a  year, and now I can do a whole one at once. I notice a huge difference in energy after having it, so i'm glad I can finally tolerate it. I will do two of those during my run tomorrow. Hydrating is something I still have a problem with. I will probably only go through two of the running bottles on my belt. I HATE wearing the belt, but it's necessary. I won't be wearing it for my marathon. I didn't touch my own water, as the stations were plenty.

Your "fat butt" isn't fat...it's skin, and I think it's much harder to deal with than an actual fat butt! LOL Putting on my compression shorts, and trying to separate the material from my skin on my thighs is a challenge! An art really!

Congrats on your races! You're an inspiration Barb!
