Just chiming in to say I too have heard excellent things about Dr. Christou in Montreal. A number of years ago another specialist I was seeing in Montreal gave me Dr. Christou's number and it was that specialist who put the idea in my head about having WLS.

I know a few people in Ontario have gone that route. Hopefully some of them will get in touch with you to give you some more information.

And yes, I know the wait in NS, NB, and NL is absolutely atrocious! I live in Ontario but I'm from Newfoundland and I have heard of the years it takes to get through the process on the east coast. We, in Ontario, are darn lucky. And we should be grateful that our process is only about 1-2 years at most!

Hi

I had my surgery with Dr. Gagner in Montreal and he was fantastic. It was I think 13,000. If you have any questions just ask:)

Hi there, I'm a Canadian living in the US.  I have heard very good things about Dr. Gagner in Montreal if you want to do self pay in Canada.  For me, choosing the "medical tourism" route and travelling outside of the country for my surgery wasn't an issue as my husband and I have done that before (hubby had hip replacement in India 5 years ago with a wonderful outcome) so I chose a surgeon in Mexico.  In my experience having a talented surgeon and having my PCP onboard to take over my follow up care post op were the most important things so I have not felt that my care was lacking at all.  So far I feel that my surgery outcome has been very good.

Good luck!
