Self Pay in Ontario?

S O TRUE Karen I had to wait 2 yrs. definitely worth while even though I'm only 5 wks post op. Seemed so long and now I'm benching it!

Hi, I lived in Fredericton and I am going to have my surgery done this Tuesday in Montreal with Dr. Christou.  I am not sure about Ontario if you can avail of self pay.  Its about a 4 to 6 week turnaround from the time of your first appointment for self pay.  His clinic is all self pay.  He has an excellent reputation and highly recommended.   Like you, the list is about 5 to 7 years in NB.  I initially had a appointment scheduled in Mexico, and did not feel comfortable enough to go.  Although I have heard good things about Mexico, but it was not for me. I am very confident in the services provided in Montreal. 

I believe Toronto has a clinic I think it's called Toronto Minimally Invasive Surgical Group or www.misgroup.ca

Wow, I had no idea you couldn't "self pay" in Ontario if you wanted to! Learn something new everyday here! and you're right Karen, our wait here is nothing compared to other places! In regards to Mexico, I'm sure there are great physician's there and once you do some research can find one that's reputable, I just wouldn't ever go there on a vacation let alone surgery - just my opinion...too scary for me...but then again Toronto is scary too lol

misgroup.ca is a group of surgeons from Humber River Regional Hospital and has been around for years. It is NOT, however, a self-pay option (to my knowledge anyway, never has been in the past ever). Their group, and web site, have been around for many years. It states right on the site that patients must be referred to the Bariatric Registry.
