WLS contributing to eye sight changes...?
Hi Everyone,
Today marks my 8 week AKA 2 month post op day! Feeling great (finally...took me 7 weeks to get to this point). I do have a question though...I haven't been to the eye doc in over a year so i'm due for my yearly check. I do wear glasses and am wondering: Should I wait until a certain month mark post op before I go? I know with rapid weight loss there can be some hormonal issues and changes in eyesight - anyone ever had this? Or a suggestion on how long I should weight before I go?
I've worn glasses/contacts for over 25 years... Had RNY in Jan 2013 and lost just over 169lbs. Eyesight never affected by WL or WLS.
Feet size, yes (9 to an 8)
Finger size, yes (10.5 to 7.5)
Body size , yes (26 to 14)
I only wish I could say WLS could give me 20/20 :-) I would have had the surgery for that alone LOL (have -5.75 for the past 10 years)
Thanks everyone! I wasn't sure if WLS would affect my eyesight but thought i'd ask since I had read it somewhere (probably was just a dream though ha ha). Wish my eyesight would get to 20/20! I read that it can change, not necessarily for the better, but just change in general. This girl needs new glasses so I may just make my appointment and see what happens!
VitaminA deficiencies can also lead to eye sight changes. Just a heads up.

I'm two weeks out and have noticed a change in my eyesight. It's not for the better either! I just turned 50 and have been putting off getting reading glasses because of vanity but suddenly it may not be an option. They are decidedly worse since the operation. This could be coincidence but it's a heckuva coincidence!
