Is there a DIN for Optifast?

I was just wondering if there is a DIN or Natural number for optifast.  Being that they say it is prescribed I am wondering if I can get it covered by my benefits at work.

There is no DIN for it.  If you have flex benefits and have money in your healthcare spending account, you can sometimes use that to have Optifast covered.

Nope...no DIN.  I work in the Ottawa Hospital, and believe you and me...we've tried everything to get it covered for the patients.

Best advice is to use any flex plan that your insurance might have, and if not, then to claim it on income tax.

They are working on getting the vitamins/supplements covered by prescription...don't know when it will happen, but they're working on it.

No DIN but, i had my opti covered a hundred percent with a Dr's note saying the surgery was necessary for my health and opti was part of the process for me to get the surgery.

I actually work for an insurance company and am a "drug" specialist. Everyone has different plans, I don't think I've ever come across a plan that would pay for something like optifast. Typically, any drug used for weight loss or nutritional supplements, are not covered. If you have a health care spending account or wellness account it could possibly be covered. Hey if prep kits for a colonoscopy is covered, opti should be! Wish we could pick specifics in our benefits lol. Someone did say we can claim it on our income tax, that's awesome news!

Sorry, like everyone else has pointed out - no DIN. I've never heard of anyone having it covered on their drug plan, though it never hurts to ask.

I was able to cover the cost through my HSA. Something to think about if it's available to you.
