I am lucky the macula is still okay. I think she kind of freaked me when she suggested we could look at a corneal transplant. Getting old is not for sissies. But the alternative is not so good either LOL

So funny you say that - my (almost) 81 year old mother says the same - better than the alternative! lol

Keratoconus can be very bad. I used to be an optician it was one of the things we looked at when I did a course on contacts. With me I started off with calcium deposit in the eye. Very unusual to get it on one eye. They think it might be because my cpap machine was blowing on my eye. After the calcium was remove my vision improved for a while but not 20/20. Then I developed a cataract, probably from having the calcium removed. Had cataract surgery and seem to improve for a while but now I have sever dry eye and some form of keratopathy. New drops were suppose to sting going in but so far not a problem and I think they may be helping. Yeah. Since it is my right and dominate eye when the blurring comes it effects my vision almost completely. Very annoying.

55? Try 40. Life is different after 40 even. And now that I'm almost 7 years into 40, every little thing somehow becomes a big deal. It's so funny - I said to an arthritis specialist a couple of weeks ago that I feel healthier than I did 5 years ago. He looked at my x-rays, blood work, etc - "seriously??"

Then he asked if I would consider reversing my RNY - I nearly died laughing.

What I've learned: Doesn't matter how healthy you eat, how healthy your lifestyle, life happens. Period.

Morning all :)

Going through an odd sleep cycle with my insomnia, hopefully I'll get it back together soon. Constant waking followed by 1 hour of sleep only to wake again. Bleah. Anyway, have some errands to run today and will get out walking to see how much/long I have to work to get more "very active minutes" for the challenge. I'm happy when I'm active and my steps are up so am curious if I'm "up to the challenge" or not.

8 years post-op

B - coffee with cream x 3 over the morning, iogo 0%

S - 1 scrambled egg, sliced tomato, 1 whole grain toast

L - ham/cheese/pickle roll-ups (3), 2 crackers, handful of green grapes

S - Chike protein iced coffee, maybe something protein-y if I'm feeling empty

D - 4 oz BBQ hot sikorsrski sausage, rhubarb chutney, 1/4 cup rice mixed with 1/4 cup edamame and green onions

S - likely just tea

Have a great one,

K.

That dinner sounds fabulous. I have a hard time with sausage, bacon and salami type stuff, can only eat a tiny bit or I'll be sick, but I love them!

I'm actually not a sausage eater, as a rule. I just don't like them with all their gristly bits and such. (One bite of that and I'm DONE thankyouverymuch) These are a very fine grind from Starsky's and if they're BBQ'd just right, they're awesome. Leftovers of them are pretty damn nice too - if I have some leftover I'll mix them into pasta sauce (meat/veggie) and they give a nice flavour.

I'm the same with any meat - the slightest bit of gristle and yaughhhhh. :)  I do make a lasagna that has hot Italian sausage in it, and I seem to be able to handle that, maybe because it's mixed half and half with ground beef and I don't have a very big portion, so the amount of sausage I get overall is probably not that much.

Anyhow, sounds like you've found some yummy ones!
