Interesting that you had no pain but have had other side effects. Do you feel like a hormonal mess, like pms, or do the side effects just feel like they are their own problem? Congrats on your inflated boobs, lol ;)

Emotionally nothing hormonal.  The acne is bad but once everything settles it should too.  My friend said by three months everything settled down for her and does nothing but rave about it.

im on nuvaring..something to look into. I've had some friends with an iud, and their docs told them if they ever want to have kids it can take quite a while to become fertile again after taking it out.

I think I'm definitely going to look in to the Nuvaring. I don't love having to change it every month, but I guess it beats taking the pill (which isn't an option anyway) and if it doesn't hurt like an IUD... Must research! Thanks!

My husband's vasectomy works great. ;) But if you're planning to have kids in the future, I guess that's not an option!

Condoms worked well for us before that, though.

Good evening Katie...I'm 22 and I have the mirena...I've had for 3 years now and I absolutely love it. Ive been in a monogamous relation ship for the past 7 yrs so I don't worry about things such as PID which could be more fatal when you have an IUD.

My menstrual stopped about a year into it which I love. I used to get phantom symptoms like tender breasts and migraines but that's about it. You don't need a period since the mirena stops you from ovulating...and technically the body is waisting eggs anyway everytime you menstruate because there's no fertilizing lol...sorri I'm a nerd lol!!

but yea I love it...it's a set it and forget it, of course still use protection just to be on the safe side or if you have more than one partner...since hormones are released like crazy once we start losing!!

another one to think about is implannon it works like mirena but looks  like a match stick that's put in your forearm. There's another IUD called para guard and it stays in for 10 yr but be warned it's copper and it has harsher side effects.

I will tell you it was a little painful when the put it in, mainly uncomfortable since it has to go in while you're on your period. I also read that you get pregnant in the same year you have your IUD removed.

anymore questions please feel free to contact me!!

Implanon/Nexplanon would be a fantastic option for many ladies but unfortunately it is not available in Canada. It is a small injectable that goes into the armpit and lasts 3 years. I personally would be very interested in this if it ever came to Canada.

I have not had the mirena, but my daughter-in-law had it and had severe problems. She got quite ill and was in pain till she had it removed. There is currently a few class-action lawsuits filed due to the severe side effects. Just do your homework and go into your Doctors with knowledge. Good luck!!

I got my IUD in March. LOVE IT!

I'm 36 and no kids. My gyno is a specialist also at East General Hosptial and she supported supported it 100%. When you are physically ready for a baby, come back and we will pop that iud out. Lol

Maybe your old doc needs to refer you to a gyno, or get a new gyno. Your body your choice. Btw there is a smaller mirena out now also, that is easier to insert.

Love my iud. No insane periods, no insane cramps. Love not taking anymore pills. I will NEVER go back to any other form of birth control.

Good luck doll
