What are the rules regarding showering, swimming etc in regards to incisions? Do we get stitches or tape or something else?

the incisions are stitched internally, there is sterile strips covering them, then gauge. My nurse took the guage banadages off. the sterile strips will start to come off on their own. NO swimming, hot tubs etc. for about a month. shower as usual then pat the area dry. no creams etc. If the incisions are red, sore or oozing see the doctor!!

Showering is fine as the water doesn't sit there.  Just pat the area dry, don't rub.  The tape either comes off on it's own within a week, or they'll take it off at your 1 week check up.  No swimming, baths, hot tubs until the incisions are completely healed.  Watch for readness and warmth in the area of the incisions as this can be a sign of infection.  If you are leaking but no readness it's probably just serious fluid that your body is using to flush something out.  You can get it checked and they may put you on antibiotics just in case.
