Second half-marathon....Under two hours!!
Yesterday I participated in the Niagara Falls Women's Half Marathon. I met up with a group of active WLS peeps, and it was a wonderful day all around. Very emotional, as some were doing their first 1/2 marathon walk. When you think of how little most of us could do just a few years ago, brings tears to your eyes when you cross the finish line.
THree years ago, even after surgery, I joined the Running Rooms 5k clinic. And after two nights, I quit. I couldn't keep up and I hated running. And now i've finished two half-marathons, a full marathon, and i'm training for a half-ironman (race July 6). Who ever knew this could be possible!?
Last year my time was 2:21:05, this year it was 1:58:29. Shaved over 22 minutes off my race!! I completed 34th our of 367 in my age group. And 197th out of 1978. I am still in shock with my results. I can't believe it!! Here I am after the race! Yay!
Surgery March 23/2011. Completed three full marathons and two half marathons, two half Ironman distances. Completed my first Full Ironman distance (4 km swim, 180 km bike, 42.2 km (full marathon) run) in Muskoka August 30/2015. Next Ironman Lake Placid July 23/2017!

Running is a goal of mine. I hope one day to do at least a 5K... and hopefully I can follow in your footsteps!

It felt wonderful to achieve the time I set out to do. Doing a half under two hours is a big feat in the running world (last year I was just happy to finish). I am hoping to qualify for Boston at my full marathon in the fall!! Yay!
If you have the goal of running, there is no reason why you can't. Start with one and one's. One minute running, one minute walking. Couch 2 5K is a wonderful program! My 11-year-old did it for a bit (lost her motivation, but she's 11...so i'll let it slide LOL).
