protein coffee

Here's what I do daily (from my friend Lynn)

Take 1/4 - 1/2 cup of milk of choice in a mug, and microwave for about 25 seconds

Add the powder (I use Kaizen Whey Isolate from Costco - I have both chocolate and vanilla). Stir with a fork (gets the lumps out better). Leave for five minutes. Stir again and pour into a Contingo and then add the coffee. Today, this lasted until lunch for me (it's a small pouch day for me....i'm 3+ years out).

Hope that helps!

I use the unflavoured protein powder from bulk barn.  I mix the protein powder with 1/4 cup of milk or almond milk using a stick blender until well mixed and frothy.  I take half a cup of coffee (below 140 degrees in temp if you are not sure) and add the milk. If I want it sweet I will add a few drops of ez-sweetz or a sf syrup like butter caramel. I really like the frothiness of it.  The same can be done with unsweetened chocolate almond breeze heated up - tastes even better than regular hot chocolate.

Thanks everyone for replying.  I have some great ideas now to try.  I'm glad I asked about it.

iwindirect has an amazing cappuccino mix. You can get samples from them and they are Canadian

for the newbies,

just remember not to add more than (1) scoop of your protein into anything or you are wasting it...RNY patients can not absorb more than (approx.) 26 grams of protein at once...so sometimes people think they will double up

(it doesn't work that way)

prior to surgery 323lbs....4 years post-op maintaining between 108- 114 lb loss.

I tried the iwindirect sample pack and loved their Iced Cappucino flavour. The brand is DynaWhey, it's sold at Fortinos (I find it at the one in Burlington) and it's under $30 for a bag. Because I find all flavoured protein shakes too sweet, I add a teaspoon (heaping some mornings) of instant expresso powder. And yes, I have it cold mixed with Almond Dream or coconut Dream.

I just add a heaping teaspoon of decaf coffee crystals to either a Premier chocolate protein drink or a vanilla shake.  I blend it with ice and the shake in the blender.
