Fiber

I went to Shoppers and Walmart the other day and asked the pharmacy if they had Benefiber. First, they looked at me like I was nuts. Second, they told me that they haven't had it in stock for a while? SOOOO, I bought the lifebrand fiber (unflavoured) from Shoppers Drug Mart, but I'm wondering. Is it the same thing?

They continue to list benefibre on all our handouts but they don't sell it in Canada anymore. You can only get it in the states. Shoppers Clearly Fibre will do the same thing. While you are on Optifast you can use Metimusil. 

Yes, Benefibre is no longer available here in Ottawa at least, but I found the Life Brand Inulin Fibre at Shoppers Drug Mart. That's the one I've been using as well in the absence of Benefibre.

I believe it is exactly the same composition, but don't quote me on that.

While on Opti, I used Metamucil capsules, but post-surgery, I'm going through a lot of inulin fibre!

I was lucky, I didn't need any fibre on opti, but lived on clearly fibre post op. ( Loblaws or sobeys have an Inulin fibre product as well). 

Good luck, don't stress too much and make sure you drink lots of water as well.
