steps

I am going to buy a pedometer to count my steps.  Not sure how they work our just how many steps I should be working towards.  Now ok guys this is a 62 yr young Granny here that does not exercise up untill now.  So im talking just starting the basics but I am doing it!!  Any advice as to how many steps I should be aiming for.  Thanks   Val

I am a young 63 yr old non granny. On good days I try for 8000 to 10000. On bad days I get about 4000. It really is great motivation to get moving. Dr Oz (who I barely tolerate says 10, 000 should be your goal per day)

  wrist band you can buy to wear it will track steps, distance, and calories burned and tracks your sleep.  alot of ladies use a fitbit , its like a pedometer.  It will sync with your phone app or a bunch of different fitness apps.  Pretty neat you can buy them at future shop or best buy, on amazon.ca.  http://www.fitbit.com/flex 

Are they hard to operate or figure out im not very tech savy?  Do you think that the source would have them here?

Are they expensive?

I'm more tech challenged than most but I have owned one for close to year and do not know how to operate it yet.  One of my issues is it did not come with a manual.  The cost was 100.00, I'm thinking of trying to pay someone to help me work it or understand it as it's costly to have sitting in its original box......and I'm not yet 50 but not a computer person.  If doing it again I would only buy if they offered a user guide and lessons on usage
