I've been told it's to shrink the liver, and that not everybody will lose weight on it; but, most will lose something.

I have lost 16lbs so far but have not lost anymore for the past 4 days so I was just wondering. Im taking 4 opti shakes a day and nothing else only water and im starting to get worried because have not seen a drop in 4 days. Starting to feel like I'm doing something wrong. Has anyone else experienced this??

Yeah, but 16 lbs in however long is pretty darned good. 2-3lbs/week is usually considered a good rate. Besides, everyone's metabolism is different...

Everybody says that the weight loss is more or a stair-step function than a nice curve i.e. you lose some, it stops for a bit, then continues. I'm sure that's all it is. Also, there's a good post somewhere on the main RNY forum entitled "Post Unsolicited advice/info" that gives a really good description of why this happens. You might want to use the search function to find it, it's pretty good reading.

If you dropped 16 lbs in one week, your body is probably in shock. Please note that the scale does not always move in the direction or the swiftness that we hope for. Therefore, even post-op, do not be surprised that it does not move for a period of time. This is perfectly natural.
Good luck in your journey to surgery.
