Pregnancy After RNY/WLS
I'm dealing w the same discussing right now w my gyno.
we decided on iud, which because of my previous health history I have to get put in, in the OR too much scarring on my cervix.
Because I'm still over 300lbs the patch won't work on me and she doesn't really recommend the Nuva ring because it can be displaced, the hormones are absorbed locally and not always enough to do the job.
Maybe consider getting another iud?
Oh thank you so much for your advice. I did not know about the displacement and absorbion problems. I just hate how complicatd it is to get the IUd... 4 appointments later and 1 pharmacy visit also. My GYNO passed away so I am starting from scratch getting a referral from my doc, then waiting the 3 months +......... I think I will ask for the pill or patch to start and once I get in to the gyno I will get the IUD.
This sucks!!!!
It does suck!
i can't believe I have to go into an OR again to get and IUD!!
but pregnant isn't an option, I already got pregnant before surgery on depo and pill. With the weight coming off I'm suppose to be more fertile. Scares me.
Hate being a women sometime
Please be VERY careful with that patch. I am 4 months post op and just hit 12 weeks pregnant!! The patch FAILED for me and I was not informed about using two different methods. They told me after the fact that the patch is not tested beyond a 180lb person. I was LIVID with TWH for not giving me accurate info on this.
I also do NOT believe that becoming pregnant will ruin the effects of the surgery. I have still lost 30lbs since finding out I was pregnant. As long as you do NOT use the pregnancy as an excuse to go back to old habits, it will all work out. You probably WILL continue to lose weight throughout the pregnancy. Now, don't get me wrong I am NOT saying pregnancy this soon is a GOOD thing....it's very high risk, but under the right care (maternal fetal medicine specialists) you will be closely monitored and they will make sure baby is doing OK. My Dr's have never had a case where Mom could NOT eat enough to support and grow the baby adequately.....mind you they have also never had a patient as soon out of surgery as me.....the good thing for me is that I am not a dumper and I can tolerate everything just fine....they say that will be my saving grace.
Soooo.....I hope everything works out well for you but whatever happens you will be closely monitored. Good Luck!
WOW!! Thank you sooo much for reading, and responding to my post first of all.
Also, CONGRATS!!! Its so nice to hear how positive you are, going through all this at this time. You are awesome. So that is great news about the doctors saying we can eat enough to support the baby. Did they send you to a "special" doctor or OBGYN? Or just a regular one who monitors you specially in your own case?
I am def not planning on getting pregnant on purpose ever....or at least for the next couple years. I need to get a house with space first, and finish my weight loss and then even see if I want one more in my early 30's when my daughter is 12. BUT....if by accident it happens, it is great to know that it will be ok!!!
And I love what you said!! Dont let the pregnancy be an excuse for old habits. We did this surgery for a reason and need to follow through!
Thanks again you are awesome and if I do not hear from you, then I hope you have an amazing, and healthy pregnancy and good luck!!!
