Need help finding a suitable protein bar

I was wondering if there is a protein bar that would be suitable after RNY surgery I am 2 and a 1/2 months out from surgeryI'm not wanting to buy online but will do so if I really have to.  It would be easier if I could get something at Shoppers Drug or a health food store.  Thanks.

I personally like Oh Yeah bars, they are available at Walmart, Shoppers and Costco, much less expensive at Costco.  Very tasty and 15 grams of protein, 190 calories, 3 grams of fibre and 4 grams of sugar.    I'm sure others will chime in.

Enjoy!!

Laurie

I like the Simply Bar as well. Quest bar is good too if you have a Popeyes close by.

I have only tried 2 protein bars. The first was a White Chocolate/Rasberry Quest bar...yum...however they are like almost $3 I think per bar so kinda pricey if it's something you plan to eat a lot. They can be purchased at Low Carb Canada....I will link the website below, but they also have a store you can go to in person if you want to buy that way.

BUT...... yesterday I was in Target and I saw these "Pure Protein" Bars. They come in a box of 6x50g bars....20g protein, 2g sugar, Gluten Free, 200 calories per bar, 16 carbs....these stats are for the Chocolate Peanut butter flavor. I believe they also had a Chocolate flavor. Anyway it was $6.97 for the box of 6 50g bars.....and they weren't bad. I mean it's not a snickers bar, lol, but when you want a treat AND you want it to be a "good for your stats" treat.....the price is right, availability is good, stats are great. I read online you can also buy them at Walmart. At Target you could buy singles too....for $1.87 a bar. So if you wanted to try it before you buy it sort of thing you could. I didn't bother....but I am going to go back and get more, I like them =)

Oops forgot the link to Low Carb Canada, lol - Quest Bars - http://www.lowcarbcanada.ca/

I have pure protein bars - I use them rarely as they taste like candy. I got them at Walmart but I see Patm gets them at costco.

At 5 yrs post-op and having had probably all the types of protein bars out there at least once..my absolute favourite are Zone Perfect, in fact I just ate one for my coffee break...I love the Dark Chocolate ALmond..it's almost like eating something sinful.

I have found a lot of them chalky tasting or just plain old bland....my thoughts are try them buy one of whatever and just go for it..my 2nd favourite is Pure Protein and 3rd favourite are Luna bars.

I find in Canada all of them are very expensive, so when my friends head to Sams wholesale in the USA I get them to grab me a couple of boxes of my ZOen perfect..they get 24 bars for $18.99 (a deal)

Whatever you choose make sure you like them or you won't eat them and then are tempted by other types of fill in foods.
