How many calories do you eat?

I am 12 weeks or so out from my surgery date.

I have been focusing on getting in all of my protein, but have been trying to do it mostly through food choice, rather than using the protein shakes. I notice that my caloric intake is slightly higher than some of the ones that are posted in the daily what are you eating thread.  I more often than not am just about the  1000 calorie per day mark.  I don't know if I have just become more comfortable with my new way of eating or if I have just started to get to the point where I can try more things and not be so afriad of them?  I am 62 pounds down and have experienced one stall that lasted about 3 weeks.

Am I doing ok?  I know the weight loss is individual, but the last week or so, I have been feeling like its not coming off fast enough.  Is this a normal phase to go through?

Surgery Scheduled for December 19, 2013.  MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ME!

I am about 3 and half months post op, I focus on protein first and low carb.  I was having a hard time getting enough protein in when I was not using protein shakes (Guelph does not like them)... I usually have one everyday for breakfast now.

I get between 600 to 800 calories a day.

Remember everyone is different and I think of myself as a slow loser, I average about a 3lbs loss a week.

Michelle

P.S.  62lbs lost!!!  That is awesome.

As Michelle said everyone is different. If you have concerns ask the dietitian at your centre to look at your menu and make suggestions. Many of the daily posters are at goal and are maintaining. Since I no longer wish to lose my calories hover around 1200. But others more active can eat more.

It will have to do with your age, amount of exercise and the types of foods you are eating

When I was 12weeks out.. I ate about 800-1000 calories per day.

It is normal.. many people slow down. "The 3month stall".

BELOW GOAL        Happily maintaining 4.5 years out!!   Life is GREAT!!!  Had my plastic surgery!

I actually was never one to (count) calories...I did read all nutritional information especially when tryng new foods and I watch my portion size even at 5 yrs post-op.

How quickly your body burns calories and the information that is posted in responses above are all true, if you exercise etc...you will burn calories quicker and you do not want to lose muscle mass.

Remember your weight loss is NOT JUST lbs it is also inches and weight will redistribute where it needs to.

If you are following your plan...don't ru****, it's a journey NOT a race~!

your will have plateaus/stalls now and then during the first year, just PLEASE do not become a scale watcher, you will become so obsessed with every lbs and stall you will drive yourself nuts.  I used to weigh myself once a week...if you are sticking to the plan...it WILL work.

prior to surgery 323lbs....4 years post-op maintaining between 108- 114 lb loss.

life is AMAZING when you continue on the right path~!.  Use your surgeons gift to the fullest~!
