so discouraged :( 9 days post op
Hello Kim,I go to the Humber River Hospital I met Dr. Klein briefly before but no one at the clinic that I talked to had him as a surgeon. He does seem nice Im just excited and nervous but Im sure that's everybody lol. Thanks for the reply How did you feel after surgery? did you stay across the street at the hotel? Hope your doing great and I will ttyl :)
I agree with Sunny, I am 13 days post op today and yesterday was the first I had weighed. My in intensions were to wait until my first appt back at the clinic on March 5th but my curiosity got the better of me. So from here on out I am only weighing every two weeks. If not I tend to live by the scale, and it's not healthy for me. I get too obsessed with it.
You got this!! Don't get discouraged!!
Kim
oh my gosh, I saw your post and HAD to respond! YES, that is TOTALLY NORMAL! I'm 2 months post-op and I am barely eating anything, still - just because I just don't feel hungry. But that's neither here nor there, what I wanted to relay to you is that this is totally normal. I have weeks where I'll lose what I think is a scary amount of weight and then I'll go a week without losing anything! And I'm like, "OH NO! IM BROKEN!!" but that is not the case. My doctor continues to assure me that as things get "back to functioning normally" my body will do what it needs to do to regulate and all I have to do is keep my movement up and eat according to the plan. :) I've lost A LOT of weight so far, so please don't feel discouraged! This is totally all part of how it goes, especially if you know that you are doing what the plans tell you to. :)
Thank you I needed to hear that. May I ask what you pre surgery weight was and how much you have lost? I gets its just overwhelming because I am following the diet to a T and I don't see the numbers going down as fast as I think they should. I know that you shouldn't compare to anyone else because everyone is unique but common.... its almost impossible not too.
I lost weigh in weeks 1 and 2 post op and then not so much as an ounce in weeks 3 and 4. I'm just entering week 5 post op and the scale is starting to move again. Increasing the amount of calories I was getting has helped. Stalls are completely normal. I hear that week 7 post op is another common "stall week".
I would recommend that you stop focusing on the scale and concentrate on being hydrated, getting in your protein, and doing some light walking. Weight loss will naturally follow (as will stalls).
Good luck and hang in there!

I agree with Dawn. Don't weigh yourself so often. I didn't weigh myself for at least a couple of weeks after surgery, and I found it very helpful not to be obsessing about the numbers. Don't worry - it will come off. It has to!
