I was told to use senokot by the nurse at my first meeting with her. She told me not to bother with the milk of magnesia.

I have a prescription for Colace from my family doctor. Sometimes I still have issues in which case I use milk of magnesia.

i can only take my iron 2 times per week (about every 3-4 days) and I must consume at least 8 glasses of fluids per day or I will have major issues.

Hope this helps!

It was so bad after surgery I tried MOM and it tasted like ass. Only thing that worked was Senokot.  I would take 3 before bed and if that didn't work would take 2 more in the morning. Usually the 3 did the work. Don't let it get too bad. I felt like I was giving birth out my butt. It was the only bad thing about this whole surgery.  Good luck.

Once I noticed that I had hard stools, I cut out eating applesauce.  I was no longer on narcotic drugs which can also be constipating.  I switched to FERAMAX for my iron supplement as it is non-constipating as well.  Then I added a serving of prunes each evening.  That is what I currently use to date (2+ years from surgery).  It is all natural.  If you read the bottle of stool softeners, they all have a warning about not using them regularly.

Good luck in finding a solution for you.

I really struggle with this. I take 2 fiber gummies/day, a stool softener 2X/day, prunes at night, and have just had to add Miralax with occasional Senokot or Dulcolax. My nutrionist is aware of the first 3 and was okay with it. Just recently had to add the last 2. I never expected it to be this severe. I drink my minimum of 2L/day every day.

I take 3 senecot pills.  I tried taking 2 of them without results. I also take 2 colace (stool softeners) everydayI make sure not to go more than 2 or 3 days without having a bm.  This is what Monica told you also and she's right this is what works for me too.
