Diabetes question

I am doing the Opti right now. Day 8 as a matter of fact.  So that was a huge concern for me.

I was on Novo Rapid, and other orals as well as levemir at night.  I was told to reduce my Levemir to just 20 at night and discontinue all other meds. I was panicking cuz I thought my sugars would drop but the opposite has happened.  I think there is so much sweetness to these drinks that my body is not liking them.

I have had to up my Levemir again and I think probably tonight I will be giving an extra boost too.

Hi there, so you are actally not taking Novorapid at all with each opti drink? And how are your morning numbers with only 20ml of Levemir?

Dr. Agarwal told me to stop taking all medications except for the Levemir.  I called him yesterday and he had me increase it to 30 at night but my sugars are still up.  I will up it again tonight.

Just curious, what did he tell you to do about your levemir the night before surgery?

I am taking Lantus instead of Levimir. And his instructions are not to take insulin or metformin on the morning of surgery. He reduced my Lantus from 140 units to 30units being adjusted as needed to keep my blood glucose between 5-10 mmol/L. Need to hold ASA for two weeks prior to surgery and to hold Diovan HTC on the morning of the surgery.

I used to take  levimir but my doctor switched me to Lantus approximately one year ago. With Lantus my sugars in the morning are between 6-9. Which is better than having it at 11-14 previously.
