Captains Log-Day 2 of Opti
I didn't add a whole lot my bottle lasted me the whole 3 weeks but it was really the only flavor I used. Do what feels right for u but I don't think it was much more then a tablespoon or so. I also used more water than the instructions suggested, lots of ice and I bought a Bubba thermal cup with a lid and straw. The smell could kill u. Lol
It was like a strawberry milkshake to me but I think part of that was mind over matter. If u think positive it helps.
I miss opti too. It was so easy... all the counting and measuring after is a pain in the butt and top that with food restrictions and things your new tummy doesn't agree too. I am still a little red meat crazy and would kill beef... hang in there.
I really liked my vanilla opti with a spoon full of decaf coffee crystals and torani hazelnut syrup... and on days where I felt more hungry I made it thicker by not using as much water and it helped.

So...I'm having the Gingerbread syrup and it's only a smidge more palatable. Ughh .. this stuff is sweeter then McDonalds milk shakes. I think I'll try the decaf coffee trick to see if it cuts the sweetness.
I don't know ... this stuff is Nassss -- tayyyy
ps... doesn't help matters that I am smelling everyones lunch in the office right now and hearing them cruch away on "real food" (it's like I suddenly have a hound's nose and hawk's hearing)

You will get through it. I am now on day 18 of 21. 18 pounds gone!!! I got all chocolate and I like it. I added some decaf coffee to a few but the chocolate is was I perfer. I look forward to the broth, it is a nice taste difference. I have had a few bad days but the first week was the worst. Bad breath has been an issue, but that is because of ketosis. This is just the beginning of the process .... Hey after my surgery I get jello ,,, yahooo lol
Try "Better than Bouillon" - you can find it at Farm boy and some Loblaws and RCSS. It is soooo much better than an other bouillon I have had. It is in paste form in a jar and imho well worth the money. The only one I was not crazy about was the mushroom one, tastes weak to me. Chickern and beef and my faves. Let me know what you think if you try them.

It has been over two years since I did Optifast. You will survive. It is a good training ground for what comes next. I found that I was surprised about all the food cues in my environment. The restaurant signs, ads on tv, other people eating. However, you will need to get used to seeing other folks eating and you are either eating something else, or will not partake of what they are having.
This period of Optifast is just a blip in my memory banks now. The first week was the hardest as I had severe Optitrots. Then they took me off my blood pressure med (water pill) that helped. I also had to up the number of Metamucil capsules to 5 capsules PER shake.
Good luck.
