WLS Clinic at Ottawa Civic Hospital
Hello, I am wondering how many on this site are having WLS through the Ottawa Civic Hospital? I am hoping to connect with some people on here, in terms of their experience with this clinic, especially if starting out at a different Regional Assessment Centre. The clinics I hear people talk about seem to be very open to questions, etc. I am hoping some others may wish to connect in private messages (I think we can do that) I really need to connect with someone. I am so frustrated right now. Thank you.
Thank you for your reply. Might I ask if you started your weight loss journey in Ottawa at the Weigh Management Clinic? I did not start mine at the Civic, perhaps I should have. I am a couple hours out of town and went through a regional assessment clinic, who decidedly gave me some false information in terms of the variation in wait times for each person. My frustration is that the person I spoke to today become very upset with my call, although I had very legitimate questions and concerns. I was eventually put through to a very nice nurse who was helpful and understanding. I do understand that this hospital is the only one in Eastern Ontario to provide this surgery and of course there are going to be substantial wait times, etc. I am not complaining, I am just frustrated and thought perhaps I may find solice with others experienced in this undertaking at this particular hospital, whether it be good, bad or indifferent. Thanks.
my experience has been pretty good except for the wait, which is hellishly long. There is one nurse there who is not nice to deal with. If you get her just recognize it for what it is and call back later until you get someone else. All the rest are really nice, especially the receptionist Peter, he is the best - very polite professional and respectful. good luck to you - where are you in the process? Feel free to friend or message me if you like, I know it is so frustrating...

Hi Providence. I'm registered at the WLS in Ottawa. It's always interesting to keep in touch with people going through the same process and seeing their timeline as opposed to your own. As you can see, I definitively have a little while to go yet until surgery. Please add me if you'd like.
