GL to you!! Hope all goes well!
I am at HRRH, I had my appt's with the RN, SW, and RD. Here's a breif synopsis;
RN: she went over my vitals, blood work and recommended fibre, and vitamin supplements to start now (as I was low on certain vit's)
RD: she went over my journal and asked what I wanted from the surgery. At that point she didn't really like what she saw and didn't feel I knew quite enough about the surgery, so I am going back to see her.
SW: He was great! He kept saying "this is not a scary appointment" And it really wasn't. For me, I need to work on my triggers, and emotional eating. And I am also coming back to see him the same day as the RD.
All the best!
REFERRED: June 19, 2013, ORIENTATION: September 23, 2013,1st SURGEON (Dr. KLEIN) APPT. October 10, 2013 RN / SW / NUT: December 20, 2013 DR. GLAZER: January 7, 2014 2nd SW / NUT: February 14, 2013, 2nd SURGEON (Dr. KLEIN) APPT. March 31, 2014, 2nd APPT. DR. GLAZER: February 4, 2015 PATTS: February 19, 2015 SURGERY: March 13, 2015
So my interpretation is this;
the RD asked me to describe the surgery in my own words. I did. She asked me to list possible complications, I did, but not all of them. Then she asked me what the stages were post op. I.e. clear liquids and for how long, liquids, for how long, pureed stage, for how long, etc. I did not know these of the top of my head. I haven't memorized it. That and the fact that my journal was terrible, is why I think I was asked to come back in. To get a better grasp on what to do post op and start better nutrition now.
For the SW, that appointment was more about my support system, identifying my triggers, identifying my emotional eating. He runs a work shop that I'd very much like to attend dealing with exactly that. However it's Thursday mornings and I can't get that much time off work. So he gave me a few worksheets that I have to work through.
When I go back for my second appointment it's only 1 hour and I see the RD and SW together, (and he said it may not even be him I see, but another SW).
As we all know everyone's journey is different. This may very well be an isolated incident. But I guess the moral of the story is study! LOL
Hope that helps!
