diet soda?

I asked my surgeon directly about the diet soda question and he said it is not an issue with stretching your pouch. It is an issue with the carbonation causing extreme pain in the pouch and the bad habits that generally come with drinking soda

Years ago I saw a demonstration at a weight loss surgery support meeting.

They put Coca Cola into a small balloon until it was filled, then tied the balloon and put it in a clear glass bowl.  During the meeting there was a loud bang when the balloon exploded.  That scared me until the doctor explained that it was not what happens with our pouch.  The pouch has an opening on both ends and the gas cannot build up and stretch the pouch.

While I agree that it is not good for me, I have drank plenty of diet soda or pop as we call it in Ohio.  I also carry the little packets of Crystal Light to add to plain water.  I am back to loving plain water and that is what I drink most of the time now.
