High expectations??

Good morning all

I just had my surgery on December 4 so am almost at the two week mark. Im wondering if I have set my expectations too high or unrealistics. I did three weeks of optifast and lost 10lbs, since my surgery i have lost another 10 lbs. I feel like this is a small number and should be down more. I know for sure I am weighing myself way too often, but when I see that the number does not go down I get frustrated. I am following my full liquids, and am not having any problems with anything that I am eating.

So the whole point of this post is...am i setting my expectations too high? and what have others experienced at two weeks post op?

When you were on opti you lost mostly water weight. Now you are starting to lose actual fat. 5 lbs a week isn't bad. Try not to stress. You will lose. You will also in a week or two have a stall probably. Then you will probably lose inches. If you haven't already take your measurements. Sometimes when the scale doesn't move the inches will.

I am 1 week post op and lost 20lbs on opti but only  3 lbs since day of surgery and NOTHING since getting home from the hospital - I just keep telling myself to be patient it will happen eventually.. just keep eating all my 60-80g of protein a day... and getting as much water as i can in. 
I have stopped weighing myself as much because it is more disappointing than anything to see the numbers moving up and down those couple pounds every day. 

I know how you feel - it sucks but don't lose hope it will happen eventually.

Everyone's different on how they lose weight, and you may not lose weight for a bit, but you'll lose inches (one more thing to measure).  And 5 lbs a week is pretty good in my book.  If you are wanting to know what the suggested loss is, I'm copying this chart:

Expected excess body weight loss:
6 weeks - 25%
3 months - 35%
6 months - 55%
9 months - 70%
1 year - 80%

For patients weighing 200 to 250 lbs.
10 lbs. in first 10 days
15 to 25 lbs. in 6 weeks
25 to 35 lbs. in 3 months
35 to 45 lbs. in 6 months
60 lbs. or more in 1 year
70 lbs. or more in 18 months

For patients weighing 250 to 300 lbs.
10 to 12 lbs. in first 10 days
15 to 25 lbs. in 6 weeks
25 to 35 lbs. in 3 months
45 to 60 lbs. in 6 months
80 lbs. or more in 1 year
90 lbs. or more in 18 month

For patients weighing 300 to 400 lbs.
10 to 30 lbs. in first 10 days
25 to 45 lbs. in 6 weeks
35 to 55 lbs. in 3 months

I lost about 15 lbs my first week just gain 4 lbs back then nothing.... I am 4 weeks now and starting again to lose. We all lose differently... just keep following the rules and it will happen. Michelle
