I've had  good results with Cymbalta for my severe osteoarthritis, before and after RNY.

cymbalta is an anti-depressant,, no?  how is it helping your arthritis?

I am so sorry you are having the pain & swelling. It sounds scary at times. I am still pre-op and have no formal diagnosis for my joint pain other than my size per my gp. She feels my surgery is the best thing for me.

Now a couple of things you may want to try. I have found krill oil effective. I hope my pouch tolerates it after surgery. But I also use cactus. Yep that thorny green bush. I buy it at Latin market. Scrape the thorns off, cut in chunks and freeze it. I then throw a bit into my morning smoothie. There is also a premade juice you can purchase as well. Unsure of the sugar content though. Latinos have used cactus for inflammation for centuries

feel better soon

My first thought was Tylenol in its strongest form - if you are allowed to take it.  Also would advise to investigate natural remedies such as the cactus remedy above.  Maybe a naturopath could assist you? How about acupuncture, massage, or even physiotherapy?  I have bad arthritis in my knee and am also curious as to how people deal with the pain after surgery, so thak you for asking...

I have osteoarthritis that still causes me signficant pain even after losing 130lbs with my RNY.  Does anyone know if we can take (and nutritionally absorb) glucosamine or any of the other natural supplements recommended for arthritis sufferers?
