I think you are right Dar.  Even I am more nervous about it now.  I still want the surgery but the closer it gets the more real it feels.  Thank you for the encouraging thoughts :)

I agree with the other posts. It is a good thing that he is sharing his fears with you. We all have fear and that is meant to protect us, but remember feeling are just feelings. We can feel the fear and do it anyway. If you have been waiting for this for two years, then it is not a rushed decision and I wouldn't worry. He has also said he will support you either way. To me that is a positive thing. Feeling fear is natural and so is going ahead with what brings out the feeling of fear. That is what true courage is in my opinion. All the best to you

my 11 yr old went through the same thing.  2  wks prior to surgery is certainly not ideal.  you've gotten awesome advice from others on here.  this is about you --.  my son and i saw a counsellor at twh and she was quite helpful.  maybe you can connect with social work and have a conversation with your husband on things.

My son was against my surgery but mainly because he did not want me to have any surgery. He was afraid of me not waking up. I am not very young and had medical issues. He was there for the day of the surgery and has been a big supporter since. He was just worried about me.

I am sure they will rally around you. Try to think of the positive reasons about why you are having this surgery.

I think my husband will be there for me afterwards.  We recently updated our wills and I think that definitely had some impact on what he said.  I also so think I do need to keep the positive thoughts going :)

Sue, worry does crazy things to people, once they see you steady the course and continue forward they will follow, keep them involved, give them reading so they will know more ways to be supportive.  And smile a wee smile knowing they love you, and want you to be happy.  Sorry that your feeling sad.......

 Respectfully Jane

I think you are right. They are worried because they do love me and don't want anything bad to happen.  Thank you for your support :)

Sorry that you are feeling sad but chin up and remember why you have started this journey.  I am a little over a year out and would not change a single thing.  I can do so many things and am off all medications (blood pressure) and was pre-diabetic.  I looked at the before and after pics on this site and they sure kept me motivated.  This fall weather makes all of us look inward and you have a wonderful intervention (surgery) coming up so get your bags packed and try to stay positive.  The men will come around (they always do lol) as long as you go forward.  Best wishes and look forward to hearing that you are 'on the bench'.  Hugs,  Nancy
