OT- Thanksgiving in the ER... and amazing friends
So I have been feeling unwell for the last few weeks, and haven't been on OH much except to browse here and there. I didn't realize that I had a bunch of private messages waiting for me, so I apologize that I have not responded...but here's whats been going on..
I was awakened early yesterday morning with severe pain in my right side, radiating into my back. As the morning wore on, it only got worse, and I couldnt even hold water down.
Went to the hospital (Cambridge). Kudos to them- they were amazing. They had blood drawn and an IV started within the hour. Sent me for a catscan, which showed a large kidney stone lodged in an awkward position in my ureter (which happens to be narrow). The doc didnt hold much hope of me being able to pass it, but since I had no fever (which would have entailed surgery right away) they pumped me full of drugs, gave me scripts for more (plus one to hopefully break up the stone), and sent me home to wait for a call from a urologist. (or to go back to the ER if needed)
While I may have missed out on Thanksgiving, I have not missed out on being thankful...my friends are my family, and I have the most amazing friends anyone could have. They rallied around me to make sure not only was I taken care of, but my 2 dogs as well...They even postponed our dinner, as they didn't want to have it without me there..
I know it might be the drugs talking, (please excuse grammar and spelling, as I am a little loopy)..but I just wanted to put it out there- how honoured and grateful I am. Also for the friends I have met on this forum. Thank you.
Hope you guys all had a great turkey day.
